Word Count 1008

typewriter courtesy of texas gurl

I have one of these old typewriters in the basement. Bought it when I fancied myself an antique collector--I'm not. But I'm sure glad I'm pounding away on a Dell and not this monster.

It's 11:00 am. I started about 8:30 and have 1008 words. Actually, I stayed up until midnight last night and entered the first sentence, so eight words were written in the early am. Then I went to bed and slept on the plot. I figured I'd be awak all night with plots lines running through my head, but I zonked.

Can't get on to the NaNoWriMo site right now, so I'm hoping to update my little calendar later today.

I've been through three cd's - Phil Vassar, Sugarland and Toby Keith, a bottle of Crystal Light and a small bowl of pretzels.

Log on and give me a shout of encouragement.

How do you write with music? I can't get both sides of my brain working so I can listen and write. I can't walk and chew gum either.

Oops. I forgot the encouragement part. You go girl! I'm green with envy and living vicariously through you.

Don't konw what it is about music, but it helps relax and then the ideas come. I can't have it too loud, but it works for me. I try to gear it around what I think my protagonist would listen to.

Thanks for the encouragement. I need it. Now, on to the second thousand...

Hey,
Just wanted to let you know that although I am not doing NANO, and I'm thinking they should do it in a month without Thanksgiving?, but I digress, I am proud of you for doing it. CONGRATS and have fun and get a novel done. :)
Love,
Margo

Hey Margo,

Thanks for stopping by. I'm closing in on my word count for the day. Thanks for the encouragement, and I agree about a non-Thanksgiving month. Last year I hiked my word count so I could take off three days for Thanksgiving. It's hard to write when you're basting a turkey. So that's my plan this year, too. Instead of 1600 words a day, I'm starting out with 2000 a day. I have a couple hundred left....better go.

Hi Tricia,
Your self-discipline and tenacity are amazing. Keep on writing, and if you hit a wall (or a blank screen), keep on typing--and the words will follow.
Good luck with your novel.
